MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

In April 2002, the St. Charles Parish Council and the St. Charles Parish President adopted the
SCOPE Plan (St. Charles Overall Planning Effort) as the blueprint for economic development in St. Charles Parish. A goal was established to improve the quality of life for St. Charles Parish residents by enhancing the level of healthcare services.

To date, St. Charles Parish Hospital has:

• Replaced the Imaging Department's MRI, CT scanner and Mammography system with some of the most advanced equipment available. Our Imaging Department is now fully digital, virtually eliminating the use of X-ray film.
• Enhanced our surgical services by adding a new Urology Suite and an Angio-Vascular Suite.
• Renovated the Outpatient Registration and Imaging waiting areas.
• Recruited new physicians in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
• Opened the David J. Vial, M.D. Patient Care Centre' which now houses our Intensive Care Unit, Cardiology Department, Medical-Surgical Unit and Adult Behavioral Health Unit

St. Charles Parish Hospital will continue to strive to meet the objectives of the SCOPE plan through the following:

• Replacement and acquisition of new equipment.
• Recruitment of talented and caring physicians and hospital staff.
• Addition of new and renovated facilities.
  

We are excited about our plans for a new Emergency Department which will replace our current Emergency Department. The new Emergency Department will improve efficiency by reducing front-end bottlenecks resulting in faster care, implementing multifunctional treatment rooms to allow for more flexibility in their use, and allowing for movement of patients to appropriate care settings.  The new design will relieve thestrain on our Emergency Department and result in improved patient experiences.
