MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Welcome to our website, A little more than a year ago, St. Charles Parish Hospital asked you to approve funding for improvements and services defined in community surveys. Your vote of support–passed by the largest margin ever for a bond issue–is not only appreciated, but also indicates your healthcare needs are in line with the hospital’s goals and vision. Thank you for your vote of confidence. I am pleased to let you know that the hospital is making significant progress in bringing the healthcare services you want close to home.
According to surveys, focus groups and polls conducted by third party groups, cardiac services was the number one community concern. The introduction of interventional cardiology in partnership with Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), brings St. Charles Parish Hospital to a new level. We will be able to provide the most advanced cardiology care and technology available without transferring patients to other facilities. Internationally recognized CIS brings an outstanding reputation and experience to our parish.
Partnering with an established group is just one aspect of cardiology services, however. The right physician for St. Charles Parish was essential and we are delighted to welcome Cardiologist Christopher Paris to our medical staff. Dr. Paris is seeing patients for evaluation and treatment, in a temporary hospital office, while we work to complete cardiac catheterization facilities.
The introduction of interventional cardiology fits well with the expanded and enhanced Emergency Services, which opened in June of 2012. From the self-contained decontamination area to handle potential chemical emergencies in our industrially rich parish to its state-of-the art equipment, Emergency Services has ideal facilities for treating sicker patients. And again, thanks to the bond issue, we have a new fleet of ambulances equipped with advanced computers and technology to immediately transmit real time data to Emergency Services. Physicians have the vital information needed to begin appropriate treatment as soon as the patient arrives.
We are continuing to grow and to respond to the needs of the community. In the near future you will see additional physician office space and increased services on the West Bank. Within the next year and a half, East Bank residents, who expressed a need for close-to-home primary care services, will celebrate the opening of a facility for primary care physicians and an advanced urgent care center. Additional and expanded services bring economic development to our community. With the opening of CIS, we added ten new jobs and the new building on the East Bank is expected to add 50 new jobs.
Your input and support has enabled St. Charles Parish Hospital to keep the promises we made to you. Thank you for helping us bring quality healthcare close to home.
